Pediatric, Occupational Therapist

Dr. Sonam Vig

As a pediatric occupational therapist, my primary goal is to help children achieve their maximum potential in all areas of life. I work with children of all ages, from infants to teenagers, who are experiencing challenges with their daily activities due to physical, cognitive, or developmental difficulties.

My role as a pediatric occupational therapist is to evaluate the child’s strengths and limitations and develop a customized treatment plan to address their unique needs. I use a variety of techniques, including play-based therapy, sensory integration, and adaptive equipment, to help children improve their motor skills, coordination, sensory processing, and self-care abilities.

My way of treatment

One of the most important aspects of my job is to collaborate with parents, caregivers, teachers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure that the child’s treatment plan is comprehensive and integrated. I believe that a team approach is essential to achieving the best outcomes for the child, and I work closely with all members of the child’s support network to ensure that everyone is working towards the same goals.

As a pediatric occupational therapist, I work with children who have a wide range of conditions, including cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism spectrum disorders, developmental delays, and sensory processing disorders. I also work with children who have experienced trauma or injury, such as those who have undergone surgery or suffered from a traumatic brain injury.

My approach & vision

My approach to therapy is holistic and client-centered, meaning that I prioritize the child’s individual needs and preferences in all aspects of treatment. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where children can explore and learn at their own pace, while also challenging them to push beyond their comfort zones and achieve new levels of success.

In addition to working directly with children, I also provide education and support to parents and caregivers, helping them to understand their child’s condition and how to support their development at home. I provide resources and strategies to help families integrate therapeutic activities into their daily routines, and I encourage open communication and collaboration to ensure that everyone is working together towards the child’s success.

Conclusion

As a pediatric occupational therapist, I am committed to ongoing learning and professional development. I stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in my field, and I continuously seek out new opportunities to expand my knowledge and skills. I am passionate about helping children to reach their full potential, and I believe that with the right support and guidance, every child can achieve success and thrive.

Overall, my role as a pediatric occupational therapist is to help children overcome their challenges and reach their goals. Through a combination of play, therapy, and collaboration, I strive to create a positive and empowering experience for children and families, helping them to build skills, confidence, and resilience that will serve them for a lifetime.
